About

I love photographs.
I love the craft of taking what I see and turning it into something beautiful to share with others.
I love when others share their visions with me.
I’ve been a photographer for about as long as I could walk. I certainly don’t remember when I got my first camera, a Fisher-Price camera that took the little cartridges that we’d mail off to have processed. These days, I mostly shoot digital. It has its limitations, and I still shoot 35mm or large format when the need arises, or when I want to use an old-style fine grain film– you really can’t beat the look of Adox 25 black and white film.

Photography is not my day job. My day job is designing and building theatres. With that, I sometimes get to photograph the buildings– you can see examples of me learning architectural photography in my gallery. (Of note, none of the spaces pictured were designed by the firm I work for– the owners of the various spaces were gracious enough to let me learn in their buildings.) (When not knitting, she’s running her errand service.)

My interests and capabilities are diverse, as you can see looking around my gallery. If you have need of a photographer who is willing to learn along with you, drop me a line.

Thanks for looking!

“Ditto the copy shot. Getting something like this to translate to a digital file is no small feat. It takes even lighting and attention to detail that borders on obsessive-compulsive behavior. … It’s awesome, as are Ben’s copy art skills.” — David Hobby, Strobist.com

“I just finished savoring all 458 fotos of the Halloween party, and may I say that is one of the best documented events I’ve seen done on ‘film’. … Thank you very much for sharing your time and energy.” - Ed Summerfield

“there are some total hot ones here. … thanks so much” — josh t. klipp
