EBHQ Show and Tell

Monday night I had the pleasure of shooting the EBHQ show & tell meeting, where everyone who has a quilt they have finished this year can show it off. Anyone who is looking to have a quilt shot this year, I have a shoot scheduled for December 8th, call or e-mail me for details!

Quilts!

I’m off to the EBHQ show and tell this evening. I’ll be the guy with the flashes.

Click on the photo here to see a gallery of most of the quilts I’ve shot (organized by artist).

Geeksdanz

My sister in law, for a business card for a school project. Turned into a nice silhouette from a quick shoot in the kitchen.

Into the Dark

Still needs to be dusted… gets dark so early this time of year, I think this was about 5:35pm.

New KAP Site

I’m still filling in all the content, but I’ve moved most of the KAP-related stuff over to a separate site: http://kap.benpeoples.com/

Enjoy the ground-based photography here =)

Ferry

Most mornings, when I can, I ride the ferry from Alameda into San Francisco. It’s a great opportunity to get some beautiful shots of things in the Bay, particularly the Port of Oakland, the downtown skyline and the Bay Bridge. Click the image above for yesterday’s gallery where I was testing out a new lens. (Nikon 60mm f/2.8 Micro (Macro) — sharpest thing I’ve ever used)

Images For Sale, Finally!

Hey, I’m in Santa Barbara this weekend.

Good news! Zenfolio has now launched their print-selling system. I’ve put about a dozen images into that. More coming in the next few months as I do my archiving for the year.

I’ve tried to price them pretty reasonably — prints start at about $8 and go up from there. Framing is available too.

Let me know what you think in the comments below.

Bay Bridge got bumped yesterday

A container ship bumped the bay bridge yesterday, spilling around 58k gallons of fuel oil into the bay. Bridge is relatively unscathed, ship is still afloat. On the ferry this morning, I caught some pictures of the damage. They’re not too great, mainly because it was a bit foggy this morning, so the light wasn’t really there.

Metropolitan Museum of Art

The Met has recently opened a gallery in the space under the grand staircase– this is a lovely little dark room with huge brick arches and the unfinished marble backs of the stairs above. A really neat and quiet little corner of the museum, if a little easy to overlook.

Oakland Middle Harbor Park

Beautifully smooth winds out of the northwest let me get way offshore. It also made it quite easy to get over the Port of Oakland:
