BlogVault October 17
Mr. TANBI sent me an e-mail this evening with a brilliant idea for a service essentially saving blogs to DVD. The idea is that with any blogging service, particularly hosted ones like Blogger or Livejournal, there’s no easy way to archive your ENTIRE site.
Well, now there is. I’m currently beta testing a system to download and convert an entire blog site to a locally browsable form, and then burn that form to a DVD or CD, and mail you the CD. The current system includes all media except for youtube-embedded videos and ajax iframes. Both of those will be added in a later revision. Not all the bugs are quite worked out yet, but I think I have something testable.
Drop me a line at photo at benpeoples dot com, and I’ll put together a list of sites to test out, also let me know how much you feel the service would be worth to you (I have some ideas for pricing, but let me know what you think).
I’ll also be out of town from tomorrow through next weekend, so I won’t be able to start archiving any sites until after that (sorry!).
