Water Test Shot April 15
Also available on the Desktops page. However, I just wanted to point out that I was in fact up to my shins in the SF Bay. Temperature in the bay is apparently holding steady at around 60F, so it wasn’t as bad as I had feared.
A fun shot, about 20 minutes after sunset. The fisherman was just there. Camera was maybe 10″ above the water level. I’m not sure how I feel about the posterization at the bottom, but I’m not sure how to improve that.

Did you process in Aperture? JDD had a post on posterization in the blues in Aperture.
I think your project idea sounds like a really good one.

Nope, that’s Bibble 4.9. Some of the apparent posterization in the middle blues is just the crests of the little ripples (the waves were around 3″ high). The dark blue is definitely posterized, but I haven’t diagnosed it. I’ve been noticing that I’m getting a lot of posterization in long exposures (this was ~15 seconds), which I’m not sure if that’s just a feature of the D70s, or bibble, or generally doing long exposure digital. has similar problems in the sky.
On the project: thanks! The various folks I’m contacting in the community are sounding positive about it as well, so we’ll see where it goes. Probably setting up a separate blog for it tonight.
